Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act 2005 (GINA) Passed
February 17, 2005

HDSA Georgia Advocates:

We are very excited to report that S.306, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act 2005 (GINA), just passed in the Senate by a vote of 98-0!

This bill provides protection against genetic discrimination in the workplace or by insurance carriers. We are very pleased with this outcome and thank you all for your hard work and quick response to our request for support in this legislation. Congratulations!

H.R. 1910, which is an earlier House version of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act will be reintroduced shortly in the House with a new Bill number. HDSA will keep you informed about progress and any action that may be required to move this new legislation onto the floor of the House for a vote. Thank you all for your dedication and support.

Thank You Senator Isakson and Senator Chambliss for your support and leadership on this issue!
